The Department of Social Services has received notification from the State of additional funds <br />totaling .$110,714 for child-care subsidies to low-income families. To date, 1,002 children and <br />their families have benefited from this program this fiscal year. These additional funds bring the <br />cun'ent budget for this program to $3,283,169 for FY 2002-03. This budget amendment provides <br />for the receipt of these additional State funds. (See Attachment 1, column #1) <br />Southern Community Park <br />2. The 1997 and 2001 voter-approved bonds included monies that would allow the County and the <br />Town of Chapel Hill to join forces in building Chapel Hill's Southem~ Community Park. The 1997 <br />bonds provide $1 million for this project while the 2001 bonds offer $2 million for a total County <br />contribution of $3 million. Prior to the, current fiscal year, the Board of County Commissioners <br />has appropriated $205,000 from the available bond monies to fund two components of the park: <br />o Construction of a soccer field adjoining the Scroggs Elementary School property <br />($105,000) <br />o Costs associated with the Park's concept plan .($100,000) <br />On March 5, 2003, the Board of County Commissioners approved the release of $140,000 in <br />1997 Park bond funds to the Town of Chapel Hill. The funds will enable the Town to move <br />forward with developing construction drawings that are required in order to obtain a Special Use <br />Permit. This attached Town of Chapel Hill Park Projects Capital Project Ordinance allows for.the <br />payment of funds to the Town. (See Attachment 2, Town of Chapel Hill Park Projects Capital <br />Project Ordinance) The chart below outlines fiscal activity to date for the project. <br />
