~~~ <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIO'VERS <br />JANUARY 22, 1979 <br />~ The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, <br />- ~ - <br />January 22, 1979, at 7:30 p.m., in the Commissioners' Room of the Courthouse, <br />in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members present: Commissioners Richard Whitted, Norman Walker, Norman <br />Gustaveson, Don Willhoit and Anne Barnes. _. ., '.. <br />._. __ ____ Agenda Ltem 3 _..- Calonial Hills. Part~ci.pating.-Paving Program <br />._. _.. ,. <br />`_ The Board agreed-to":hear this item first since there were many people _. <br />present in the audience from Colonial Hills. Mrs. King, a resident of Colonial <br />Hills, said the residents who signed the petitions she submitted to the <br />Board of Commissioners thought they would be assessed on afront-footage <br />basis rather than on an acreage or per lot basis. She said it was their <br />~ wish to be assessed on a front-footage basis. <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Walker, to <br />schedule another public hearing on February 20, 1979, at 7:30 p.m., to <br />consider changing the, cost basis from acreage or per lot basis to a front- <br />footage basis. Vote: ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson requested all residents of the Colonial <br />Hills Participating Paving Project be notified of this public hearing <br />because this public hearing could change the original decision reached <br />after the first public hearing held in September, 1977 and because the <br />assessment on afront-footage basis would significantly increase some of <br />the property owners local shares. <br />Commissioner Walker asked the Clerk to write a letter to Mr. Jones, <br />District Engineer, North Carolina Department of Transportation, to request <br />the Department's assistance in a drainage or ditch problem that occurred <br />after this paving project was completed. <br />Commissioner Whitted asked whether any Board member or person in the <br />audience wished to add additional items to the agenda.
