I r <br />~~ <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 19, 1988 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, July <br />19, 1988 at 7:30 p,m, in the courtroom of the old Post Office, Chapel Hill, North <br />Carolina. <br />BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Shirley E. Marshall, and Commissioners Moses Carey, <br />Jr., Stephen Halkiotis, John Hartwell and Don Willhoit. <br />ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill, <br />STAFF PRESENT: county Manager John M. Link, Jr „ Assistant County Manager Albert <br />Kittrell, Clerk to the Board Beverly A, Blythe, Housing and Community Development <br />Director Tara Fikes, Tax Collector Johnny Horner, Purchasing Director Pam Jones, <br />Animal Control Director Alma Johnson, Finance Director Ellen Liston, Director of <br />Social Services, Marti Pryor-Gook, Health Director Dan Reimer, Planners Brad Tongan <br />and Mary Scearbo. <br />A. BOARD AND MANAGERS COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Willhoit stated that he has been informed that the agenda was <br />printed on recycled paper and encouraged the County to continue along these lines. <br />Commissioner Carey stated that a three member task force of the revenue committee <br />of the General Assembly met to further discuss alternative sources of revenue <br />generation and the first meeting will be held the first of September. Hopefully, a <br />recommendation will be presented to the Boards in late October. <br />County Manager John Link added two items to the agenda -- G7 budget amendment <br />that relates to item G6 and G8 the interlocal agreement for implementing Triangle <br />Area water supply monitoring project. <br />Commissioner Hartwell brought attention to two items"on the consent agenda. <br />First, Social Services received another grant for child sexual abuse cases and second <br />they have reached an agreement with Memorial Hospital for the hospital to pay for <br />another intake worker and provide the office facilities, He commended the County <br />staff for the high percentage of tax collections. <br />B.
