~~ <br />PAGE 1 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS AND PLANNING BOARD <br />REGULAR QUARTERLY PUBLIC HEARING <br />MAY 23, 1988 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in joa.nt session with <br />the Orange County Planning Board for the purpose of holding a quarterly <br />public hearing on May 23, 1988 at 7:30 p.m. in Superior Courtroom, <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Shirley E. Marshall and <br />Commissioners Moses Carey, Jr. John Hartwell and Don Willhoit. <br />BOARD MEMBER ABSENT: Commissioner Stephen Halkiotis. <br />PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Planning Board Chair Barry Jacobs <br />and members Chris Best, Carol Cantrell, Abbie Dickinson, Dan <br />Eddleman, Mike Lewis, Sharlene Pilkey, Prince Taylor, and Steve <br />Yuhasz. <br />PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Virginia Boland and Brenda Swann. <br />ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill. <br />STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr., Clerk to the <br />Board Beverly A. Blythe, Administrative Secretary Joanna <br />Bradshaw, Planning Director Marvin Collins, and Planners Emily <br />Crudup and Brad Tongan. <br />A. Comprehensive Plan Amendments <br />a. Cheeks Township Component <br />The Staff presentation was made by Marvin Collins. <br />He explained that updating the Cheeks Township component of <br />the Land Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan is an <br />objective o~ the FY 1987-88 Work Program. <br />Work on this project began on January 21, 1988 with a meeting <br />of the Cheeks TAC wherein the update strategy was presented. <br />Public information meetings were held at Efland Cheeks School <br />on February 10, 1988 and March 9, ].988 to inform ca,tizens of <br />the process and solicit input on plan proposals. A final <br />meeting was conducted on May 4 to present the Draft Plan. <br />The Draft Plan does not differ substantially from the current <br />
