4 ~ <br />MIl~T[TI'ES <br />ORANGE COIINrl'Y OF CCMNIISSIONERS <br />Ji1NE 19, 1984 <br />l`he Orange County Board of Caarttissioners met in regular session on <br />Tuesday, June 19, 1983 at 7:30 p.m. in the Courtroom of the Old Post Office <br />Building, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners Present: Chair Don willhoit, and Commissioners Shirley <br />Marshall. Ben Floyd, Norman Walker and Richard Whitted. <br />A. <br />Chair Wi1lhoit noted he received a letter from Ann Sanford indicating <br />that the Chapel Hill Training Outreach project had been awarded a Headstart <br />Program to be operated in the Chapel Hill~arrboro area and would like the <br />Board's assistance in bringing this program to the attention of families of <br />rh;ldren who would qualify. This has been announced in the newspaper. <br />rtes D-1 - Governor's Awards - was moved to item 13 under•Items for <br />Decision. <br />Kenneth Thompson. County Manager requested to table item E7 - "Copy <br />Machine lease/Purchase". <br />B. <br />1. <br />None <br />Thompson received a request from the tax supervisor to declare <br />the Equalization and Review Board adjourned as of June 19, 1984, rt was so <br />approved. <br />--. D• <br />1 • S~Y:g111i21.' ~ Awarder - moved to Item F.~13 <br />2. <br />Thompson reported that the Certificate of Conformance in <br />Financial Reporting had again been received by Orange County and Wallace <br />Harding, the Finance Director. This award was also received last year and is <br />one of eighteen such awards. <br />Chair willhoit presented the certificate to Wallace Harding and <br />expressed the gratitude of the Board. Wallace Harding stated it was an <br />effort by the entire Finance Office staff. <br />3. <br />Lorraine Parker, Chair of the Recreation Committee recommended on <br />behalf of the Orange County par-~ arxi Recreation Advisory Council that the <br />County C~¢nissioners consider the appropriation of $6,000 for fiscal year 84 <br />85 and 85-86 to the Town of Mebane for oooperatfve, 1oca7, funding of lake <br />Michael Park in order to obtain SO-50g match status for a Land and Water <br />- Conservation kUnti. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Walker, seconded by Coamnissioner <br />Lloyd to approve the reccanmendation to accept the resolution of the Park and <br />Recreation Advisory Committee to appropriate $6,000 for fiscal years 84-85 <br />and 85-86 contingent upon Mebane receiving the grant and oontingent upon a <br />satisfactory working relationship between Mebane and the Orange County Parks <br />and Recreation Advisory Council. <br />VOTE: L'~9NIMO[]S. <br />4.
