PUBLIC HEARIidG <br />1. ~ r <br />J. Sanders Dallas, Jr. representative of the Department of <br />Transportation, presented the proposed Secondary Road Improvements Program <br />recommendation for approval. He explained that the allocation of monies is <br />based on the number of unpaved roads in the County. Approximately <br />forty-three million dollars will be allocated for the secondary road <br />improvement program am approximately one half million will. be. allocated to <br />Orange County. The rating system is done every two years with this being the <br />second year. <br />Jahn t~Tatkins, Division Engineer, noted that the anticipated amount <br />for Orange County is SSDS,S84 with 590,000 left over from last year for a <br />_ total of 5598,584. (the map with the proposed secondary road improvements <br />thereon is in the permanent map file in the Clerk's office ) The <br />_ following roads are included in the program: <br />Weaver Dairy Road from NC 86 to SR 1734; Wilkins Drive from SR <br />1718 to SR 1824; System Streets in Joppa Oaks Subdivision; Renfrew Drive from <br />SR 1566 to a read encl; Clearwater Lake Road from end of pavement to a Dead <br />End; Lebanon Church Road from 5R 1338 Easterly to a Dead End; Borlanr Road <br />from 5R 1102 to SR 1113. <br />A gentleman representing the people whc live on Bivens Road, SR <br />1573, explained that an Bivens Road there is six tenths of a mile unpaved <br />which adjoins Dunham County and which he feels should be considered by the <br />County for paving.
