Z80 <br />rizNOTEs <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF CO6IMISSIONERS <br />tlAY 7. 1984 <br />1 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on flay <br />7, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. in Superior Courtraam, Orange County Courthouse, <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners Present: Chair Don Willhait and Commissioners T~larshall, <br />Lloyd, and P7alker. <br />A. BOARD COi$IdENTS <br />Commissioner Marshall added the Governor's Volunteer Awards process to <br />the agenda. <br />B . A3ID , <br />1. AiATTERS Ofd THE. PP.IL~ED_ AGE?QDA <br />Chair Willhoit will recognize those persons present who want to <br />speak about roads, lights, or appointments. <br />2 . .a ~ <br />None <br />C. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconder by Commissioner Lloyd <br />to approve the March 5, 1984 minutes as circulated. <br />VOTE: UNAPII~'OUS. <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded by Commissioner Lloyd <br />to approve the T~?arch 13, 1984 minutes as corrected. <br />--- VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br />Marion was made by Commissioner Marshall. seconded by Commissioner Lloyd <br />to approve the April 17, 1984 minutes as corrected. <br />VOTE: UNANIb1OU5. <br />E. PUBLIC HEARIidG <br />1. ~ r <br />J. Sanders Dallas, Jr. representative of the Department of <br />Transportation, presented the proposed Secondary Road Improvements Program <br />recommendation for approval. He explained that the allocation of monies is <br />based on the number of unpaved roads in the County. Approximately <br />forty-three million dollars will be allocated for the secondary road <br />improvement program am approximately one half million will. be. allocated to <br />Orange County. The rating system is done every two years with this being the <br />second year. <br />Jahn t~Tatkins, Division Engineer, noted that the anticipated amount <br />for Orange County is SSDS,S84 with 590,000 left over from last year for a <br />_ total of 5598,584. (the map with the proposed secondary road improvements <br />thereon is in the permanent map file in the Clerk's office ) The <br />_ following roads are included in the program: <br />Weaver Dairy Road from NC 86 to SR 1734; Wilkins Drive from SR <br />1718 to SR 1824; System Streets in Joppa Oaks Subdivision; Renfrew Drive from <br />SR 1566 to a read encl; Clearwater Lake Road from end of pavement to a Dead <br />End; Lebanon Church Road from 5R 1338 Easterly to a Dead End; Borlanr Road <br />from 5R 1102 to SR 1113. <br />A gentleman representing the people whc live on Bivens Road, SR <br />1573, explained that an Bivens Road there is six tenths of a mile unpaved <br />which adjoins Dunham County and which he feels should be considered by the <br />County for paving. The part of Bivens Road located in Orange County is rot <br />scheduled for bavina. however the adioinina Aortion of Bivens Road located in <br />
