D0 to ae added tc <br />the general fund, and (3) introduced a proclamation to proclaim the c-peek <br />o£ February 20-2 as School Safety TsTeek. <br />Commissioner Lloyd moves'„ seconded bs~ Commissioner Marshall to <br />approve and authorize Commission Chair I~illhoit to sign the School Bus <br />Safety Proclamation. VOTE: TJI~II~ITIOCTS. <br />Commissioner ?•?illhait received a r~uest from the 2bvm o` Chapel <br />Hill to delay consideration of two items from the schedule for public <br />' hearing on ?'ebruary 23: (1) Trandescant and (2) major transportation <br />corridor, to enable the 7tx~m to respond after their meeting on February <br />27. He read a resolution from the TJCOG which supports traffic service <br />logo signs or. I-40, and c•~hich resolution will be presented to the TJCOG <br />-- Board on February 10. The resolution emphasized that ne~•~ people coming <br />into an area are mainly concerned wick: the c?uality of life ans. the <br />resolution supported prohibiting billboards and other signs• near the <br />Interstate and endorsed the use of logo signs because (1) minimizes the <br />procedure and (2) aids the traveling public. Commissicner I~allcer felt it <br />inappropriate to endorse the resolution since Orange County is in the <br />process of determining sign reculations for Orange County. Cor~unissioner <br />- Tarshall indicated that the resolution has nothing to do faith the sign <br />ordinance for Orange Co~uzty but only that Orange County would have in <br />motion the concept of logo signs. Cor~anissioner Lloyd opposed eliminatinc <br />all other signs From the roads. <br />Commissioner Parshall moved, seconded by Commissioner ti'illhoit to <br />approve support of the resolution draft from TJCOG.
