Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> There were items related to items 7-a, Sales Tax Distribution Method for Fiscal Year <br /> 2010-2011, and 10-a, A Report on the Costs and Benefits Associated with Bringing Social <br /> Services and Child Support Enforcement Legal Services In-House. There was also a public <br /> comment sheet. <br /> PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br /> 2. Public Comments <br /> a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> Blair Pollock spoke on behalf of the Solid Waste Management Department. <br /> A Statement to the Board of Orange County Commissioners from members of the Solid <br /> Waste Management Department submitted: April 6, 2010 <br /> "We are aware that the County is facing another difficult budget year and that requires <br /> hard decisions about what programs and services need to be reduced or eliminated if a major <br /> goal is to avoid raising taxes in 2010-11. We are here tonight to ask you to support full <br /> continuation of the current set of solid waste management services at current staffing levels <br /> with no further reductions. Here is why we make that request: <br /> The services provided by this Department are integral to maintaining public health in <br /> Orange County by providing safe and efficient collection and disposal of waste and providing <br /> means to reduce the amount and toxicity of that waste. We have competently and diligently <br /> provided those services for almost 38 years. Those services are mostly funded from an <br /> enterprise fund and, with the exception of the Sanitation Division, do not directly affect tax <br />
