Ms. Sockwell <br />introduced members of the Chapel i3i11~'axrboro Schools' staff and Board <br />of Eduyatia*~. <br />Agetzda Item 1: Cha 1 Hill-Carrbora Schools' Bud t <br />Request <br />Dr. Pamela Mayer and Ms. Carolyn Freeman presented the Chapel Hill- <br />Car-boro Schaols' budget request to the Board. Imo. Mayer noted that all <br />CE'PA quids were eliminated fran this budget while Capital outlay increased <br />by 31.5;. She noted that *~~;ation funds and funding for the food ser- <br />vice were decreased tt~.is year. and told the Hoard of the impact on pro- <br />grams and the school lunch program the decreases would have. Mayer <br />and Ms. F*~+++a.*: *„old the Board of the expected State,Federal and local <br />ruts. - . <br />C~xmiissior~r Gustaveson asked what strategy the schools were using <br />to deal with State f-ending ruts as regax'ds their programs. Dr. Mayer said <br />they really didn't know what might happen if they don't get the requested <br />fund=. They felt strongly that the State would go 5~--5g on salary increases <br />and retie-Ent. ~ Board asked which programs the local funds would pic1c <br />up. Dr. Mayer said one reading teacher, ~e ~~~ for early `_intervention, <br />ane aide and ~ clerical position. <br />The Hoard thanked the Chapel Hill-Carrbom Schools' Staff and Board <br />of Education for the budget presentation. <br /> <br />
