MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />' APRIL 16,'1981 <br />the Orange County Board of Commissioners met in executive session <br />to consider personnel Thursday, April 16, 19$1, at 6:30 P.M, in the <br />Commissioners' Room, Orange County Courthouse, Hillsborough, North <br />Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Anne Barnes, Chair, and <br />Commissioners Norman Gustavesan, Norman Walker, Richard Whitted and Don <br />w:l~hoit. <br />Following the executive session which adjourned at 7:15 P..M., <br />~ the Orange County Board of Commissioners met in special session with <br />the Town of Hillsborough Board of Commissioners in the Superior Court- <br />room, Orange County Courthouse, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />~ The Orange County Board of Commissioners were present as listed <br />above. <br />Town of Hillsborough Board of Commissioners present: Commissioners <br />j Horace Johnson, Allen Lloyd, Paul Martin, Remus Smith and Rachael Stevens. <br />i Mayor Cates of Hillsborough was not present. <br />Commissioner Anne Barnes presided over the meeting and thanked the <br />~ T^;vn of Hillsborough Board of Commissioners for responding positively to <br />(~ the Orai~:7e County Board of Commissioners' request fora joint meeting.. <br />I Agenda Item 1: Northern Fairview Proposed Park <br />j <br />Mr. Jim Polatty, Planning Director for Orange County, addressed <br />t';p Boards on this topic. Mr. Polatty said the objectives were to; <br />{ _.--reclaim the landfill, thereby ending khe health threats to <br />n4arby residents; <br />2--develop the park; and, <br />I 3--develop housing in the general area. <br />i <br />Mr. Wayne Weston, Recreation Director for Orange County, said <br />the Community Development Grant which Orange County was now working under, <br />~ was written with the neighborhood park concept; however, he envisioned a <br />district .park--Orange County's first such park- <br />
