�QQ9� �jy <br /> MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> JUNE 17, 1980 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session <br /> on Tuesday, June 17, 1980, at 7:30 p.m., in the Superior Court Room, <br /> B Orange County Courthouse, in Hillsborough,. North Carolina. <br /> :a <br /> Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br /> `k <br /> and Commissioners Norman Walker, Norman Gustaveson, Don Willhoit <br /> and Anne Barnes. <br /> The purpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing to <br /> discuss the proposed County Budget for fiscal year 1980-81. <br /> The Finance Director/Assistant County Manager reviewed certain <br /> items recommended by the Manager in the proposed County budget. <br /> 3. <br /> The Chairman then opened the floor to the public for comment. <br /> Mr. Buddy Streit, President of Janus House/Sheaffer House, Inc., <br /> requested the Board to consider funding additional staff at <br /> Sheaffer House in the amount of $8,000. <br /> Mr. Harold Rogerson, Chief Court Counsellor, spoke in favor <br /> of the additional funding requested for Sheaffer House staff. <br /> Ms. Betty Eidner, Ms. Amy Palmer, Ms. Pat Sumner, and <br /> Ms. Grace Copeland, teachers in the Orange County Schools, spoke in <br /> favor of full funding of the Orange County Schools as proposed by the <br /> i. Orange County School Board. They discussed the importance of <br /> teacher supplements, travel , materials and supplies, repairs <br /> , <br /> needed at A. L. Stanback and the need for an in-school suspension <br /> teacher at A. L. Stanback. <br /> Mr. Bob Tennant presented a letter requesting the Board consider <br /> increasing the Soil and Water Conservation District budget $2,949 <br /> plus benefits to reclassify a District Technician position. <br /> E Deputy Sheriff David Hughes spoke in favor of Orange County <br /> Schools' proposed budget, emphasized the importance of reading <br /> 4 programs and commended the schools on their efforts in the area of <br /> crime prevention. <br /> I <br />
