<br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FEBRUARY 5, 1979 <br />~~~s <br />The Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, <br />February 5, 1979, at 10:00 a. m., in the Commissioners' Room of the Courthouse, <br />in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members present: Commissioners Richard Whitted, Norman Walker, Norman <br />Gustaveson, Don Willhoit and Anne Barnes. <br />The fiollowing items were added to the agenda: <br />Agenda Item 19 b: Meeting Date with OWASA <br />Agenda Item 28 G: Appointment to Orange County Planning Board <br />Agenda Item 28 H: Appointments to Carrboro Planning Board <br />Agenda .Item 33: Letter of Endorsement to Accompany EMS <br />Planning Grant <br />Agenda Item 34: Road Matter <br />6 <br />4 <br />~:. <br />Agenda Item 2: Putters of Public Concern <br />Commander John H. Thompson, Jr., American Legion Post 452, Hillsborough, <br />North Carolina; Commander Clarence E..Rosemond, American Legion Post 85, <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina; and Commander Fred C. Wright, American Legion <br />Post 6, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, petitioned the Board of Commissioners <br />to prepare and forward to appropriate federal and state authorities a <br />resolution requesting persons who desecrated the flag of the United States <br />of America on Friday, January 26, 1979, at the campus of the University of <br />North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina be speedily brought to trial. <br />Commissioner Walker requested the Board be given an opportunity to <br />review information on this item and requested the item be placed on the <br />February 20th agenda for action. Commissioner Walker also requested the <br />Gounty Attorney review this item. <br />Mr. Randall Waugh submitted a petition to the Board concerning <br />desecration of the flag reported in the Chapel Hi11 Newspaper on January 28, <br />1979. See page 126 of this book for a copy of this petition. <br />
