ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING <br /> UNC WOMEN'S SOCCER <br /> 2008 NCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> WHEREAS, on December 7, 2008, the University of North Carolina women's soccer team <br /> captured the NCAA Women's Soccer National Championship; and, <br /> WHEREAS, under the guidance of Head Coach Anson Dorrance, UNC earned its 191' NCAA <br /> title and 20 overall national championship since 1981; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Tar Heels completed the season with 25 wins to finish with a 25-1-2 record; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, by this 2008 victory, in a time when collegiate soccer has reached parity, UNC <br /> women's Soccer has returned to the forefront of the sport; and, <br /> WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the Tar Heels have <br /> brought honor upon themselves, the University of North Carolina, Orange County <br /> and the State of North Carolina; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> expresses its sincere appreciation and recognition to the University of North <br /> Carolina women's soccer team for their outstanding victory and their inspiration to <br /> the youth across the Nation through their athletic leadership and teamwork. <br /> This the third day of February 2009. <br /> Valerie P.
