I~;INUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMp1IS520NER5 '~~S <br />~_ • r <br />Monday, February l6, 1976 <br />The orange County Board of Commissioners met in joint session <br />with the Boards of Aldermen of Chapel Hill and Carrboro at 6:30 p.m. <br />on Monday, February 16, 1976, at the Colonial Inn in Hillsborough. <br />Iviembers present: Chairman Flora Garrett, Commissioners Norman <br />Gustaveson, Jan, Pinney, and Richard Whitted. <br />Alembers absent: Commissioner Norman Walker.. <br />This meeting was held for the purpose of reviewing with. Engineers <br />that developed the Greater Durham-Chapel Hill Area 201 Study their <br />proposed rex~ort. <br />Chairman Garrett introduced representatives of the Engineering <br />Firms of Piatt and Associates, Olson and Associates, and Rose, Pridgen <br />and Freeman; authors of the report. These Engineers gave a brief review <br />of the phase of the study that their company concentrated upon. <br />A question and answer session ensued. During this discussion it <br />became apparent that many possible alternative positions to the one <br />taken in the report did exist, therefore, the proper position for the <br />Boards to take at the present would be to sit at the hearing uncommitted <br />and receive public input. Following this hearing and resolution of the <br />questions raised the Boards would develope their position. <br />There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. . <br />~~M~.Q. r <br />Flora R. Gattis <br />Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />Tuesday, February 17, 1976 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on <br />Tuesday, February l7, 1976, at 7:3p p,m,, in the Commissioners' Roam of <br />the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />I~iembers present were Chairman Flora Garrett, Commissioners Norman <br />Gustaveson, .Ian Pinney, Norman Walker, and Richard E. .T~itted. <br />1•iembers absent: P7one <br />S• r~. Gattis, County Manager; Neal Evans, Finance Officer; A. B. <br />Coleman, Jr., County Attorney; and Betty June Hayes, Clerk were also <br />present. <br />Richard Whitted, Vice Chairman of the Board, opened the meeting. <br />(Chairman Garrett joined. the meeting at a later time.) <br />Chairman Whitted referred to Item 7 on the Agenda: Persons not on <br />this Agenda desiring to speak with the Board of Commissioners should <br />i make their presence known in order that an appropriate time might be <br />arranged for them to be heard. <br />No one came forth. <br />chairman Whitted referred to Stem iI: Isrs. Robin Andrews desire to <br />petition the Board of Commissioners far additional funds to continue <br />the programs of the Orange County Bicentennial Committee. <br />Nlrs. Robin Andrews, Chairperson of the Bicentennial Committee, <br />filed with the Board a list of the activities that were being planned <br />for the forthcoming year. She stated that the request for $1,025.00 <br />was the minimum that would be needed to stage the events.
