<br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session
<br />on Monday, January 5, 1976, at 10:Op a,m,, in the Commissioners'
<br />Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough.
<br />Members of the Board present were Chairman Flora Garrett,
<br />Commissioners Norman Gustaveson, Jan Pinney, Norman Walker and
<br />Richard Whitted.
<br />Others present were S, M. Gattis, County Administrator; Neal
<br />Evans, Fiscal Officer; A, B, Coleman, Jr,, County Attorney; and
<br />Betty June Hayes, Clerly to the Board,
<br />The Chairman referred to rtem #2 on the Agenda: Appzoval of
<br />Minutes of prior meetings.

<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Whitted, it was moved and adopted that the minutes of the December
<br />16, 1975 meeting be approved.
<br />The Chairman referred to Ttem
<br />Breeze, Chairman of the Orange Soil and WatereConservation District,
<br />to request appropriation to fund part time help in the Soil and
<br />Water Conservation Office for a temporary but indefinite period of
<br />time,
<br />Messrs, Quentin Patterson and William Breeze were present and
<br />Col. Breeze stated that the Federal Government had withdrawn its
<br />support for a Conservation Technician, He stated that the conserva-
<br />tion Technician's duties consisted of preparing typo maps, field
<br />stake out work, land management and areas of sediment control. He
<br />informed the Board that George Chockley had worked with the program
<br />job, and
<br />thatdif thesASC Officeecouldxnotlsecureotheeneedednfundss the
<br />position would be vacated, , n this
<br />Discussion ensued concerning the amount of money needed. Col.

<br />Further discussion ensued.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Pinney, it was moved that the Board approve up to $4,000. from the
<br />Contingency Fund to the .Personnel Fund of the ASC Office for the
<br />position of Conservation Technician, until the Federal Government
<br />funds this position,

<br />' AMENDMENT
<br />"The 1975-76 Budget Ordinance of Orange County as adapted on
<br />June 18, 1975, and subsequently amended, is hereby amended
<br />as follows:
<br />Change the appropriation for the following line items in the
<br />funds indicated:
