<br />Commissioner Flora Garrett advised the Board of s meeting on Inter- <br />governmental Relations that had been aaheduled for Thursday, June l3, at 12 <br />o'clock Goon at the Research Triangle. <br />Commissioner Melvin Whitfield stated some oP the Fire Districts were <br />interested in securing rand working out some type of long range plena with the <br />County in order to borrow money from the Federal Housing Administration. The <br />County Administrator explained that before the Federal Hauaing Administration <br />would loan money to the Fire Districts they required sows oommittment on the <br />part of the County and this would assure that the County would be responsible <br />for the incurred indebtedness in case anything happened to prevent the Fire <br />District from meeting their obligation. }Ie stated that a copy of the Agreement <br />~ should be presented to the Board. <br />Mr. Gattia recommended that the Board approve the Audit Contrast that had <br />bean submitted by the firm of EFtsst & Ernst. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Richard E. Whitted, seconded by Commissioner <br />Henry S. Walker, it was moved and adopted, that the County execute the Audit <br />Contract with the firm of Ernst & E~rtet. <br />There being ne further business to Dome before the Board the meeting <br />was adjourned to meet again on June 6, 197lF. <br />C. Norman Walker, Chairman <br />Betty June Playas, Clerk <br />MINUTES OF T&E ORANGF COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMI53IONER3 <br />rune 6, 1974 <br />The Board of County Commissioners oP Orange County met in adjourned <br />session in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouse is Hillsborough, North <br />Carolina at B P.M. on Thursday, June 6, 1974. <br />Members Preaeat: Chairman C. Norman Walker, and Commissioners Flare <br />Garrett, and Richard S. Whitted. <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Melvin Whitfiald,'snd Henry 3. Walker. <br />S. M. flattis, Comity Administrator, was also present. <br />•Mery Sorogga, Chairman of the Chapel Hill Sohaol Board, Sam Rolton, 24ra. <br />Warren Wicker, Norman Weatherly, kdwia Caldwell, P:enneth Howard, members of <br />the Chapel Hill School Board, and Robert genes, Superintendent of the Chapel <br />Hill School IInit, were present. <br />The purpose oP this meeting wee to begin the hearings on the 1974-1975 <br />County Budget. <br />Chairman Walker renognized Mary Sarogga. Mrs. Saroggs made a few <br />introductory remarks. Then she requested Dr. Hanes to review the budget with <br />the Board of Commissioners. Dr. Hanes reviewed a summary oP the current <br />expense budget giving particular emphasis to the new program being requested. <br />The total per capita current expense budget requeste8 wee X1,002,712.64. In <br />addition to this reo_ueat the school board requested the district supplement <br />be raised Prom .2LF5 Dents to .265 aerate. This levy they estimate would <br />produce $857,937.50. <br />Dr. Hanes also reviewed the capital outlay budget ea proposed by the <br />school board. This budget totaled $966,402.23. A copy of the budget request <br />was not filed with the Clark. <br />At the conclusion of this presentation the board set the following meetings: <br />Tuesday, June 11th to hear the Connty Board of Edanation, the District <br />Realth Department and the Mental gealth Agency. <br />Thnreday, June 13th to hear various county agenaiea and the Chapel Hill <br />and Orange County libraries. <br />
