MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COTJNTY' <br />30ARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />May 6, 1974 <br />'~~~ <br />The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in regular session vn Monc'&y, <br />May 6, 1971}, at 10 o'clock A,M, in the Commissioners Room at the Courthouse in <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman C, Normar_ Walker, and Commissioners Henry ~. Walker, <br />Flora Garrett, Richard E. Whitted and Malvin Whitfield. <br />Members Absent: None. <br />I Chairman Walker referred the Board to Item I on the Agenda: (FINAL PLATS: <br />_ A, Section s, Falls of New Ropa. The planning Hoard recommends approval of this <br />plat. 3, Minor Subdivisions: 1. Jimmy Freeland, 2. Edd Whitted, 3. Strayhorn <br />and Tilley, The Planning Board recommends approval of these plats. C. Minor <br />Subdivisions: 1. Thomas A, French. The Planning Board recommends disapproval of <br />this plat. D, Preliminary Plat: 1. Carl Sparrow Estate. The Planning 3oard <br />recommends approval of this plat.) <br />Mr. Haithcock presented the following items: <br />1. Plat of Jimmy Freeland, two tracts located in Chapel H311 Township. Mr. <br />Haithcock advised the Board that Mr. Freeland has assured the Planning 3oard that <br />he would not zone this property far mobile home park use. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Renry 5~ Walker, seconded by Commissioner Melvin <br />Whitfield, it was moved and adopted that the plat be approved, <br />2. Plat of Edd Whitted dated January 15, 1971}, 2.0 acres in Eno Township. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Melvin Ti~lk:itfield, aecorded by Commissioner Henry <br />S. '•+alker, it was moved and adapted that the plat be approved. <br />3. Plat of Ralph N, Strayhorn and Melba H, Tilley dated February, 1974, <br />property located in Eno and Little River Township. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S. Walker sevvnded by Commissioner Melvin <br />Whitfield, it was moved and adopted, that the plat be approved. <br />4. Plat of Evelyn 3, and Thomas French dated March 15, 1974, 1 acre located in <br />Chapel Hill Township. <br />Mr. Haithcock advised the Board that thin plat had not been approved due to the <br />fact that the needed right of way did not exist on said plat. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Flora Garrett, aeaondad by Commiasaoner Melvin <br />Whitfield, it was moved and adopted, that the Board not approve the plat of ~elyn <br />B, and Thomas French. <br />$. Preliminary Plat of Carl Sparrow Estate dated December 12, 1973, prop arty <br />located in Chapel Hill Township. <br />Mr. Haithcock advised the 3oard that the County Planning Hoard had approved <br />this plat. Discussion ensued concerning the proper right of way. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S. Walker, seconded by Commissioner Melvin <br />Whitfield, it was moved and adopted, that the plat be approved. <br />F„ Plat of Falls of New Hope, Section V dated April 1s, 1974, located in Chapel <br />Hill Township. <br />Mr. Haithcock advised the Board that this plat had been approved by the County <br />Planning Board with the proviso that the surveyor insert the dimenaiona on the lots <br />that are located on the creek that is shown on said subdivision plat. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Melvin i^Thitfield, seconded by Commisaivner 3enry S. <br />Walker, it wsa moved and adopted, that the Hoard approve the plat of Section V, Falls <br />of Naw Hope provided. that the instructions of the County Planning Board are complied <br />with prior to the recording of the plat. <br />i Chairman Walker referred the Hoard to Item SI on the Agenda: (The County Dog <br />Warden to discuss Dog Control Program vrith the 3oard of Commisaivners.) <br />Chairman lJalker recognized Cashe Boggs, County Dog Warden. Mr, Boggs advised <br />- the 3oard that something needed to be done about the dog pound. He stated that the <br />conditions that did exist were unsanitary due to the fact that they are unable to <br />properly clean the premises. Discussion ensued. <br />Mr. Boggs advised the 3oard that Dr. Garvin did not want him to carrg a side arm. <br />Discussion ensued concerning the need for a new dog pound. <br />
