<br />MINUTES OF THE DRANQE CDUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />Sune 5, 1972 <br />The Board of County Commi.asioners of Orange County met in regular session <br />on Monday, .7une 5, 1972, at lD o~cloek A.M, in the Board.Room of the Social <br />Services Building in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, sad Commissioners William C. <br />Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and C._Norman Walker. <br />Members Absent: Nona <br />Tt was agreed that since each Board member received a full copy of the <br />meetings of the previous month that the reading of the minutes would not be <br />required. <br />Chairman Bennett announced that this was the time and the date for the public <br />hearing an the petition entitled "PETITION TO CLOSE STREETS LOCATED IN STATESIDE <br />SUBDIVISION KNOWN AS HIGHLAND DRIVE, NORTHERN EATE[dSION CF STATESIDE DRIVE, AND <br />PORTIOSd OF BUENA VISTA WAY." The Clerk eras instructed to read the petition. <br />"NORTH CAROLINA <br />ORANr~E COUNTY <br />PETITION TO CLOSE. STREETS LOCATED IN <br />STATESIDE SUBDIVISION KNOWN AS HIGHLAND <br />DRIVE, NORTHERN EKTENSION OF STATESIDE <br />DRIVE, AND PORTION OF BUENA VISTA WAY <br />TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF ORANGE COUNTY: <br />The undersigned corporation being the owner of all of the lots or <br />parcels of land adjoining the roads or streets sa hereinafter described, <br />said streets lying in Chapel Hill Township and within the County of Orange <br />and outside the corporate limits of any municipality within said County, <br />does hereby respectfully petition and request that the said roads dr streets <br />as hereinafter described be closed pursuant to provisions of G.S. 1s3-9(17) <br />as amended. <br />Said streets as hereinafter described are shown on plats and surveys <br />as recorded in Plat Book 8 at Page 3l, Orange County Registry and Plat Book <br />13 at Page 51, Orange County Registry, and said atreete as hereinafter <br />described have never been cut, graded, opened yr used. <br />Said streets are located in Stateside Subdivision in Chapel Hill <br />Township, Orange County and era more particularly described as follows: <br />HIGHLAND DRIVE AND NORTHERN E7CTENSION OF STATESIDE DRIVE: <br />Being a13 of the atreete entitled "Highland Drives' and that portion <br />of street shown and entitled "Stateside Drive" lying East of the asst lines <br />and east lines extended of Lgts 27 and 1~7,. Stateside Subdivision, as shown <br />on plate and surveys ae recorded in Plat Book 13 at Page 51 sad Plat Book 8 <br />at Page 31, Drange County Registry, reference being hereby expressly made <br />to said plats and surveys for a more particular description of said atreete. <br />PORTION OF BUENA VISTA WAX LYING SOUTH OF LOT 17: <br />Being all of the streets entitled "Buena Vista Way" lying between <br />the southern property line extended of Lot 17, Stateside Subdivision and <br />the northern edge of North Forest Drive as shown on plate and surveys <br />recorded in Plat Book 13 at Page sl and Plat Book 8 at Page 31, Orange <br />County Registry, reference being hereby expressly made to said plats for a <br />more particular description of said streets. <br />The undersigned in support of said petition shows that it is the owner <br />and holds fee simple title to all of the lots in Stateside Subdivision <br />adjoining and abutting the streets as hereinabove described and as shown on <br />plate and surveys as referred to herein, and that said atxeets as herein- <br />abvve described are not necessary to afford access to any lots in said sub- <br />division or any other properties other than that of your Petitioner, and <br />that the nloaing of said streets is not contrarq to the public interest, and <br />that no individual owning property in the vicinity of said streets or in the <br />subdi~tieion in which same are located will thereby be dearived of reasonable <br />means for the ingress and egress to his property. That in addition, your <br />Petitioner respectfully re orts that the owners of all lots in said aubdivisicn <br />have consented and agreed ~a Fetitioner~a closing of said atreete as shown on <br />the instrument attached hereto marked as k~thibit A and said instrument being <br />incorporated by reference herein as if set forth fully. <br />
