f = '~'~ MS`_~I1TES OF aHE 013ANGE COTT2dTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIOPIERS <br />Map 8, 1972 <br />The Board of County Commi.ssionera of Orange County met in adfourned session <br />on Monday, May 8, 1972, at 8 o~cloak P.M. in the Library Building at <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. <br />Ray, Henry s. talker, Tra A. Ward and C. Norman Walker. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Mrs. E.M. Lockhart, Mra. Riohard Bond, Mr a. Virginia Warren and Don <br />Matheson, Trustees of the Confederate Memorial Library, and Lloyd Osterman, <br />Regional Librarian, were present. <br />Chairman Bennett opened the aessfan by advising the group that the Board <br />had felt it advisable to discuss the recent gift of the Burnside property <br />to Orange County. He stated that he Pelt the following question needed to be <br />answered by the Library Board "Did the Library Trustees approveā¢of the gift <br />and do they want the Board of Commissioners to undertake a study of the <br />property in order to determine what might be feasible in the way of utilizing <br />the property Por library purposes?" <br />The Library Trustees responded to the question by saying "That they most <br />certainly did approve of the gift of Burnside and they were very interested in <br />having a feasibility study conducted." <br />F~,urther discussion ensued. Mr. Osterman was requested tc secure a proposal <br />for a study of Burnside from an architectural firm. <br />Ther® being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adfourned. <br />Harvey b.
