1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 16, 2026 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-o <br /> SUBJECT: Change in BOCC Meeting Schedule for 2026 <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of County <br /> Commissioners <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Revised Text Calendar Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board, 919- <br /> 245-2130 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider a change to the meeting schedule for the Board of Commissioners for <br /> calendar year 2026. <br /> BACKGROUND: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40, the Board of County <br /> Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or provide a notice of any change in <br /> the Meeting Schedule. <br /> It is proposed to hold a retreat on June 27, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. at the Whitted Human Services <br /> Center in Hillsborough. <br /> There are no other proposed changes to the Board of Commissioners' 2026 meeting calendar. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact. <br /> ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports: <br /> • GUIDING PRINCIPLE — COMMUNICATION AND AWARENESS <br /> We provide information and opportunities for engagement in a transparent manner so that <br /> all in our community have knowledge, understanding, and a voice. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board amend its meeting calendar <br /> for 2026 and hold a retreat at 8:30 a.m. on June 27, 2026 at the Whitted Human Services Center. <br />
