1
ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: April 7, 2026
Action Agenda
Item No. 4-a
SUBJECT: County Government Month Proclamation
DEPARTMENT: Community Relations
ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT:
Proclamation Wil Glenn, 245-2302
PURPOSE: To approve a proclamation designating April 2026 as County Government Month in
Orange County.
BACKGROUND: The National Association of Counties (NACo) celebrates National County
Government Month each April to educate the public about county government. A proclamation to
acknowledge April 2026 as County Government Month is attached.
This year's national theme is "Brilliant Ideas at Work." The theme encourages counties, parishes
and boroughs to feature their most innovative and successful programs — those truly making a
difference in residents' lives.
To celebrate County Government Month, the Community Relations Department will coordinate a
social media campaign showcasing County employees and the important work they do. Staff will
also spotlight some of the County's most successful and innovative programs.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with consideration of the
proclamation.
ALIGNMENT WITH STRATEGIC PLAN: This item supports all the Goals of the Strategic Plan.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the
Chair to sign the proclamation.
