BACKGROUND: The Board of Adjustment hears, reviews, decides appeals, and reviews any order requirement, decision, or determination made by the Zoning Officer in the performance of official duties. It also hears and decides applications for the approval of those Special Uses requiring Board of Adjustment approval, in accordance with the rules and conditions laid down in the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), hears and decides appeals for variances from the dimensional regulations of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), and decides or determines other matters as may be required by the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) or State law. There are no term limits for Board of Adjustment members. The Board of County Commissioners appoints all five (5) members and two (2) alternates. The Board of Adjustment does not make recommendations for appointments.
