The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, June 12, 1962, at <br />8 o'clock p.m, in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C., in <br />special session to continue study of the 1962-1963 county budget. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, <br />Clarence Jones, Donald McDade and Henry S. Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />David Slick, Director of the Hyconeeches Regional Library, presents the <br />proposed budget for the coming fiscal year. <br />G. Paul Carr, Supt, of County Schools, presented the proposed budgets for the <br />coming year. in Current Expense the request of this Board was for $206,937,000.00; <br />in Capital Outla the request was for $209,564,000.00 and for Debt Service the <br />request was for 316,048,000.00. <br />After a question and answer session the Chairman adjourned the members of <br />the Board of Education and informed these members that they would be called back <br />at a later date for a discussion on certain items in their budget. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned to meet again on <br />Thursday, June 14th at 8 o!olock p.m. <br />Donald Stanford <br />S. Gettis Chairman <br />Acting Clerk <br />- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - <br />Minutes of the Board of Commissioners <br />June 14, 1962 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Thursday, June 14, 1962, at <br />8 o'clock p.m, in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. in <br />a special joint session with the Board of Public Welfare. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, <br />Clarence Jones, Donald.McDade and Henry S. Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />The proposed budgets were discussed in detail but no finel..decisions were <br />made. <br />The joint meeting then adjourned. <br />The Board then met with the Supt, and Members of the Chapel Hill School <br />Unit to discuss it# budgetary request for the coming fiscal year. Dr. Johnston <br />discussed the Current Expense budget in detail. This budget was based upon an <br />allotment of $38.00 per student. <br />School Board Chairman, J. Kempton Jones, discussed the Capital Outlay budget <br />in detail. <br />At the conclusion of these discussion Chairman Stanford advised the School <br />Board that when actual revenue estimates were completed he would again talk to <br />this Board to discuss the probable effect on the School Board's budget. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned to meet again on <br />Tuesday, June 22nd, at 8 o'clock p.m. <br />Donald Stanford <br />S. C . , in <br />special session to continue budget sessions. <br />Members present: Chairman Donald Stanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, <br />Clarence Jones, Donald McDade and Henry Walker. <br />Members absent: None <br />The Register of Deeds, the Clerk of Court and the Sherriff presented their <br />budgetary request. These requests were given due consideration but no final decision <br />was made. <br />There being no further business this meeting was adjourned.
