<br />MINUTES OF THE ORANf}E COUNTY o':'1r '7 PAGE 365 <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS -, <br />May 10, 1971 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in ad3ourned session <br />at 6:30 P.M, on Monday, May 10, 1971, at the Colonial Inn in Hillsborough. <br />-. Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William C. <br />Ray, Flenry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and Norman Walker. ; <br />Members Absent: None <br />L. M. Cheshire, County Attorney, Dr. 0. David Garvin, District Health <br />Officer and Dr. Robert J. Murphy were present. <br />Dr. Garvin and Dr. Murphy reported oa the operation of the Orange-Chatham <br />Comprehensive Health Program which is being f~xaded by OEO. <br />~r ~ Discussion ensued relative to the water line which was being constructed <br />from the Town of H111sborough to the Rock House Road on U. 5, Highway 70-A East. <br />The County Accountant advised the Soard that the Town of Hillsborough wished to <br />have the sum of $3,000.00 released to them in order that said protect might be <br />completed. Dissuasion ensued. <br />Upon motion of Conanissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner Norman <br />Walker, it was moved and adopted that the County would advance to the Town of <br />Hillsborough the sum of $3,000.00 from the County~a Fmergenay Fund on the <br />condition that the Town amend the previous repaysaent agreement made with the <br />County and add to the sum presently to be repaid by the Town this sum now being <br />requested. ~ -' <br />L. M. Cheshire, County Attorney, reported that House Bill #663 had been <br />amended and said amendment would reouire that Orange County pay to Alamance <br />County monies which would be applied in the school areas of current expense, <br />cani,tal outlay and possibly debt service for those students who will attend ' <br />the Alamanae School-System. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ira A. Ward, aeoonded by Commissioner Henry ' <br />Walker, ft was moved and adopted, that the Orange County Board of Coaunisaionera ~ <br />go on record as opposing House Bill #663, <br />Chairman Sennett instructed the County Attorney to advise the Local <br />Government House Committee that Orange County was opposing this bill. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br />Harvey D. Smith in Chanel Hill, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett and Commissioners William <br />C. Ray, Henry S, Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Norman Walker. <br />This meeting was called for the purpose of discussing House Bill #663. <br />Said proposed bill would merge a portion of Orange County School System into <br />._, the Alamance County School System. <br />Discussion ensued and the pros and cons arising from the proposed legislation <br />ware as follows: <br />h: <br />
