Finance: <br />Require inclusion of data on energy use in bid specifications. <br />2. Document energy cost projections as a factor in purchasing decisions. <br />Planning: <br />1. Develop and implement the energy elements of the land Use Plan, Sub- <br />division Regulations, and the Zoning Ordinance, and encourage energy <br />efficient development standards and patterns in Orange County including <br />siting, transportation, and more intensive use of conservation and renewable <br />energy resources. <br />2. Ask builders to submit a response to a checklist of energy saving features for <br />new homes and subdivision developments including caulking and <br />weatherstripping, insulation, siting and design, landscaping, transportation <br />routes and potential for alternative transportation (e.e., bicycles, etc.) <br />Inspections: <br />• 1. Ensure compliance with the energy part of the N. C. Uniform Residential <br />and State Building Code. <br />Agricultural Extension Service <br />Continue to develop programs, seminars, andlor fairs to inform residents <br />of energy conservation and management techniques and services <br />available. <br />3. Advise farmers on energy efficient farming practices and the potential for <br />developing energy sources on the farm. <br />Schools: <br />Continue to implement a conservation program for school buildings and <br />vehicles <br />2. Make sure the Energy Conservation Committee in each school is ongoing <br />and active. <br />Offer instruction in energy management at-each grade level. <br />~~ <br />L J <br />
