Orange County <br />Jail Renovation and Expansion <br />Exhibit A <br />The Phase I -Feasibility Study will be developed to provide Orange County with a plan <br />for expanding the existing Jail Facility to accommodate additional inmate housing. It is <br />the County's desire to provide two 20-bed housing units, one for Misdemeanant Males <br />and one for Females. Options to be explored include additions to the existing footprint as <br />well as possible upfit of the unfinished space located in the basement of the jail. The <br />County also intends to provide a video visitation area for the public near the entrance to <br />the jail. <br />The following tasks are included in Phase I: <br />1) Code 8~ Standards Review <br />a) The Architect will review the NC Building Code and the NC Jail Standards to <br />determine the requirements for the proposed uses <br />2) Facility Assessment <br />a) The Architect shall employ plumbing, mechanical, electrical and structural <br />engineers to examine the existing systems and determine the feasibility of <br />expanding or modifying existing systems to support the proposed expansion and <br />renovation options for the building. <br />i) Plans of the existing building shall be reviewed <br />ii) Engineers shall visit the site to field verify existing conditions <br />3) Conceptual Plan Development <br />a) The Architect will identify potential options for expansion or renovation for review <br />with the County <br />b) The Architect will develop two conceptual plan options for final evaluation <br />c) The Architect will meet with the County to review the proposed options, discuss <br />operational issues with the Sheriffs Office and select a preferred option for final <br />design development. <br />4) Final Recommendation <br />a) Determine final project scope, budget and schedule <br />b) Document findings in a final report <br />Ware Bonsall Architects Page 1 of 1 <br />
