Ray, seconded by Commissioner Norman <br />Walker, it was moved.and adopted, that the County proceed to provide water <br />service to the residents of the area South of the railroad between Mattress <br />Factory Road and Walton Lumber Company, provided that a request for this <br />service is mad <br />Chairman Bennett advised the Board that District Seven oP the North Carolina <br />Commissioners Association would meat in Durham at the County Office Building at <br />7 P.M. on April 13, 1971. <br />The County Administrator advised the Board that 1973 would be the year that <br />the County must revalue all of its taxable property and that he had revised the <br />tax assessment nontract and that there were four to six companies who would bid <br />on said contract. DSacusaion ensued relative to this matter. <br />Upon motion of Coirmiissioaer Ira A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner William C. <br />Rap, the County Administrator was authorized to proceed with the securing of bids <br />for this service. <br />The County Administrator presented a letter of application for exemption From <br />poll tax From George S. Ray, Route 1, Mebane, North Carolina. The exemption was <br />based on the Pact that Mr. Ray was a disabled veteran. <br />It was moved and adopted that George S. Ray, Route 1, Mebane, North Carolina <br />be exempt from the paying oP any future poll tax based upon the fact that Mr. Rap <br />is a disabled veteran. <br />The County Administrator stated that h® had received a request from the <br />Church Softball League for permission to remove the tin shack located behind the <br />Courthouse as same could be utilized by the league for reatroom facilities at <br />their softball field. ' <br />IIpan motion of Commissioner Senry Walker, seconded by Commissioner Ira A. <br />Ward, the County Administrator was authorized to grant the Church Softball <br />League permission to remove the tin shack from County premises: <br />The County Administrator advised the $oard that he had received a letter <br />from North Carolina National Bank recuesting that payment be rendered oa the <br />facilities currently being used as an office by the Drivers License Examiner. <br />The County Administrator was authorized to forward payment to the bank. <br />The County Administrator presented a letter From the Town of Chapel Hill <br />requesting that the citizens of the County be authorized tc list taxes by mail. <br />Mr. Gattia advised the Board that he had given this matter some consideration, <br />however, the County would need statutory authority before it could institute <br />such a practice. <br />The $oard advised the County Administrator to bring Orange County under <br />Chapter 118 of the 1967 Session Laws which would allow the policy oP tax listing <br />by mail. <br />Milts Levine, Attorney at Law, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, requested that a <br />fireworks permit be granted to the proprietors of The E[ouse of Chu on Saturday, <br />May 1, 1971, Mr. Levine stated that the Fireworks display would be held as <br />part of a wedding aeremoay celebration. <br />IIpon motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner Norman <br />Walker, The Souse of Chu wsa authorized to stage a fireworks display on Saturday, <br />May 1, 1971, provided that said display be held under the supervision of either <br />the Pire department or the police department. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adjouraed to meet again on Tuesday, April 6, 1971, for a joint public hearing <br />with members of the County Planning Board and on Tuesday, April 13th and on <br />Monday, April 26, 1971. <br />Harvey D.
