See Rele&ae #510. <br />Brantley <br />Discussion ensued relative to Ambulance Servioe and Ambulance contract. <br />Chairman Bennett made the following report as a member of the Ambulance Committee. <br />He stated that Chapel Hi11 Funeral Home had offered a one year contract in the <br />amount of $27,500 plea $250.00 additional for insurance for the rendering oP <br />ambulance service to the Southern part of the County. <br />IIpan motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Coaanisaioner Tra A. <br />Ward, it was monad and adopted that the Ambulance contract for the Southern end of <br />the county be signed with the Chapel Hill Funeral Home and that said contract be <br />made effective as of June 1, 1971. <br />Chairman Bennett reviewed correspondence received Prom the various Historical <br />organizations in the County. The Board had requested names of persons who might <br />be appointed to the North Carolina Amerioan Revolution Bicentennial Commission. <br />Tt was agreed to defer these appointments until a later date. <br />The County Attorney advised the Board that due to a legal teahnioslity the <br />second reading of the Ordinance entitled "AN ORI]TNANCE RkJGULATTNG THE EXPOSIIRFs TO <br />VIEW THE HUMAN BODY" must be set aside and that all procedures mu.at be re-instituted. <br />The Following road petitions were presented and the Clerk wsa inatruated to <br />Forward same to the State Highway Commission: Whiaperiog Pines Circle, Crawford Court <br />Drive and SR 1004 Efland-Cedar Grove Road to 1306 Couaty Home Road known as Taylor- <br />Clark Road. <br />Chairman Bennett advised the Board that the legislation relative to the Local <br />option Sales Tax had been adopted by the General Assembly and that this legislation <br />enabled the Board to adopt a resolution levying the One Cent 3slss Tax or it also <br />permitted the Board to call an election on the Question of the levying of the One <br />Cent Sales Tea. Considerable discussion ensued. <br />~- Chairman Bennett presented a latter from June Crumpler of the Orange-Alamanoe <br />Water System, lnc. Said letter stated that the Town of Mebane had agreed that .the <br />Orange-Alamance Water Syatam, Ina. could serve those citizens located South of the <br />railroad between Mattress Factory Road and Walton Lumber Company. Said letter <br />requested permission to install lines to this area.
