All HPC members must have personal, professional, and/or organization
experience related to historic preservation. Examples of appropriate professions include:
architect, historian, architectural historian, archaeologist, landscape architect, planner,
anthropologist, curator, conservationist, or folklorist, or other activities that are related to
historic preservation. Members must also reside in Orange County's planning jurisdiction.
Robin Moran has a degree in anthropology from Duke and works as building contractor. Her
experience in the building trades should provide additional expertise to our existing
membership and facilitate our efforts to expand our Local Landmark program, with design
guidelines and review of Certificates of Appropriateness.
Historic Preservation staff has been in contact with Ms. Moran and she is interested in
serving on the commission. Ms. Moran appears to meet the requirements for commission
membership and resides within Orange County's planning jurisdiction. Please convey this to
the Board of County Commissioners for their consideration in December. Ms. Moran would
fill the seat vacated by Betsy Underwood, who rotated off in March of last year.
Thank you.
