MINUTES OF THE OR_4NGE COUNTY 7'~r"~ _ 7 PAGE ~9 <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />March 23, 1971 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned <br />session at 8 o~alock P.M. on Tuesday, March 23, 1971, in the Cammiasivners <br />Room at the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William <br />C. Ray, Henry S. Walker, Ira A. Ward and C, Norman Walker. <br />Members Absent: None <br />This meeting was held for the purpose of discussing with the Chapel Hill <br />Funeral Homa the possibility of their rendering ambulance service to the <br />southern part of the county. <br />Chairman Bennett informed the Board that Bynum Weaver, President of the <br />funeral home, was unable to attend the meeting, but that he had left certain <br />data relative to the type of ambulance service that hie company could render. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William C. Ray, seconded by Commissioner Ira <br />A. Ward, it was moved and adopted, that the County Attorney and the County <br />Administrator investigate the feasibility of securing an ambulance contract <br />with the Chapel Hill F4ineral Home. ' <br />~- ~~~Q eu ntin Patterson, Representative of the Soil Conservation Service, <br />reported that plans were underway fox the installation of a second sediment <br />structure which would be located North of Lake Orange. He advised the Board <br />that the Soil Conservativn Servioe recommended the oonstruction of a sediment <br />structure on Eno River at the upper site sa onpoaed to the lower site. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />The Board reeueated Mr. Patterson to proceed with plans for the upper ~ <br />site sediment structure `' <br />There being no f t'~t~ her business to come before the Board the meeting <br />was adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, March 30, 1971, at $ P. Sennett, and Commissioners William C. <br />Rap, Henrp S. Walker, Ira A, Ward and C. Norman Walker. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Don Matheson and A. T. Davison, Trustees of the Confederate Memorial <br />Library Board were present to reaueat that the Board be authorized to develop <br />the attic apace oP the librarq. Mr. Matheson preaented.a statement which <br />showed that in order to develop this project the capital expdnditure would <br />~. amount to $3,310.00 and that the Library trustees currentlq had available <br />` $1,623.00. Discussion ensued on the proposed protect. <br />Upon motion oP Commissioner Ira Ward, seconded bq Commissioner William <br />Ray, it was moved and adopted that $1,623.00 be taken from the Contingency Fund <br />- and applied to the remodeling of the attic area of the Confederate Memorial <br />Library. <br />- , <br />~• <br />
