ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: December 11, 2008
Action Agenda
Item No. ~' - f1
SUBJECT: Motorola Service Agreement for 9-1-1 Radio Equipment
DEPARTMENT: Emergency Services PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No
ATTACHMENT(S):
INFORMATION CONTACT:
1 -Motorola Service Agreement F. Rojas Montes de Oca, 919-245-6100
2 -Motorola Service Terms and Craig Blackwood, 919-245-6100
Conditions
3 -Motorola Statement of Work for Local
Infrastructure Repair
4 -Motorola Statement of Work for
Network Preventative Maintenance
5 -Motorola Statement of Work for
Onsite Response and Dispatch Service
PURPOSE: To approve an agreement to provide yearly service and maintenance for the
Motorola 911 radio equipment for the 911 center.
BACKGROUND: Orange County purchased seven Motorola Gold Elite radio positions for the
911 Center from a 2005 COPS Grant. This equipment is currently in place in the newly
renovated facility at 510 Meadowlands Dr., Hillsborough. This equipment brings Orange County
up-to-date on radio equipment and allows connection directly to the State interfacing with the
800 MHz Voice Interoperability for Emergency Responders radio system (VIPER).
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The current cost for the service agreement is $31,659.36 with rates
subject to adjustment at each anniversary date. This amount has already been budgeted for the
current fiscal year.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve the service agreement
and authorize the Chair to sign it pending review by the County Attorney and authorize the
Purchasing Director to sign future radio service agreements.
