2 <br />Orange Public Transportation (OPT) <br />2. Orange Public Transportation has received additional revenue from the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation for the following programs: <br />• Elderly and Disabled Transportation Assistance Program -receipt of $38,621 <br />for temporary personnel and contract services. This brings the budget for this <br />program to $93,745 for FY 2008-09. <br />• Rural Public Transportation Program -receipt of $34,652 to offset costs of <br />temporary personnel and contract services. This brings the budget for this program <br />to $84,314 for FY 2008-09. <br />• Work First Transport -funds totaling $10,631 to offset operational costs of <br />providing OPT services. The department will use the funds to expand the Wheels <br />for Work vehicle procurement and repair program. This brings the budget for this <br />program to $21,870 for FY 2008-09. <br />(See Attachment 1, column #3) <br />Library Services <br />3. Library Services has received additional revenue for the following programs and services: <br />• The North Carolina Room -receipt of $500 from the Durham-Orange Genealogical <br />Society to purchase supplies and equipment for the North Carolina Room. <br />• Public Internet Access - E-Rate discount funds totaling $3,010 to improve Internet <br />access on public computers. In accordance with the Federal Telecommunications <br />Act of 1996, the Orange County Library receives discounts for telecommunication <br />services offered by Embarq. There is no County match required for the receipt of <br />these funds. <br />• Children's Summer Reading Program -grant funds totaling $1,000 from Wal-Mart <br />to fund several interactive children's activities, including after school programs and <br />book week programming. There is no County match required for the receipt of these <br />funds. <br />(See Attachment 7, column #4) <br />Department of Social Services <br />4. The Department of Social Services has received notification of additional Adoption <br />Enhancement Fund donations: <br />• Foster Care Donations -donations totaling $4,015 to offset costs for the on-going <br />needs of foster care children. <br />• General Assistance Donations -donations totaling $11,937 to aid special-needs <br />clients, including senior citizens. <br />(See Attachment 1, column #5) <br />
