BOOT( ~ PAGE 3~~ <br />Norman Long, Zoning Officer, stated that due to Drange County's request <br />for modification to the newly effected State Electrical. Code that the County <br />would be authorized to operate under the county code until July 1, 1971. Mr .: <br />Lang stated the County had filed a request that would retain a portion of the <br />old code, in that, metal raceways would still be required. He stated that the <br />State Building Council would review the request and the County would be later <br />advised as to its position relative to the requested amended revision. <br />Ebert Pierce, Chairman, Extension Service, filed with the Board an annual <br />report of his departments activities. <br />Mr. Pierce explained the Nutrition Aid Program. The County Administrator <br />reported to the Soard the results of a meeting with Dr. Andrews and Mrs. <br />Meld au, representatives of the State Extension Service. Discussion ensued <br />on the proposed program and action was postponed to the next regular monthly <br />meeting. <br />Chairman Harvey Bennett left.the meeting and Vice Chairman Henry Walker <br />assumed the chairmanship of said meeting. <br />1 <br />The County Attorney presented an Ordinance regulating the exposing to the <br />public view the female body. In accordance with the General Statutes the first <br />reading of the Ordinance could not be conducted until March 1, 1971. <br />Commissioner Ward stated that Dr. Richard Bell had contacted him concerning <br />a soil erosion problem which existed on SR 1901 as the drainage system overflow <br />is causing danger to the North Carolina Botanical Gardens. The clerk was <br />instructed to advise the State Highway Commission of the problem and request that <br />a survey be made in order to eliminate the condition. <br />The Tax Supervisor reported that the ad valorem taxes against the Masonic <br />Lodge for the years 1968 to 1970 had been improperly levied and collected as <br />the building on the property was no longer being rented by the lodge. Mr. <br />Gattis recommended the release of the following tax bill: <br />1968 tax bill .amounted to 592.95 <br />1969 tax bill amounted to 599.47 <br />1970 tax bill amounted to 596.26 <br />$288.68 <br />Upon motion of Commi55ioner Ira A. Ward, seconded by Commissioner Norman <br />walker, it was moved and adopted, that the Tax Supervisor be authorized to <br />release the 1968, 1969 and 1970 tax bill in the amount of 5288.68 against the <br />property of the Masonic Lodge. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again vn February 8, 1971, at 8 P.M. <br />Harvey D.
