Efland Sewer Rate Study
The Board received information for further discussion and considered a decision on the
new rate schedule for the Efland Sewer System.
Engineering Specialist Kevin Lindley said that the items requested by the County
Commissioners are in the attachments and explanations. The draft rate schedule will be taken
to public hearing in January, which will be part of the Quarterly Public Hearing.
Geof Gledhill clarified that the proposed rate schedule would not be approved until after
the public hearing.
Kevin Lindley said that he wanted to have a proposed rate schedule to present to the
public.
Commissioner Foushee would like to know what was offered to the residents in the
Rogers Road area and what the criteria was for a resident to become eligible for assistance.
She would also like to know if there are programs that are similar to what was offered to help
offset the cost of service.
Chair Jacobs suggested adding a sentence to the notice that the County will try and
provide an assistance program for residents.
Discussion ensued on the proposed rate increase.
Geof Gledhill said that the plan is to send a letter to every customer in the system and
the public hearing is to allow people to comment. There is no requirement for a public hearing
in this case.
