4 <br />1 <br />2 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Hillsborough Town Board of <br />3 Commissioners/Board of Orange County Commissioners that a Rail Station Development Task <br />4 Force is hereby appointed to include representatives of the Hillsborough Planning Board, the <br />5 Orange County Unified Transportation Board, the Orange County Transportation Services <br />6 Board, 3 citizens, the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough, the Economic Development <br />7 Commission, and the Walkable Hillsborough Coalition. <br />8 <br />9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force is charged to undertake the following work: <br />10 - Defining best practice criteria for selecting a location for a train station <br />11 - Apply the criteria to parcels in the Hillsborough area to select/recommend to both <br />12 government Boards a location for a Hillsborough station <br />13 - Investigate the established funding criteria and procedural steps to proceed with <br />14 station development and collect/report those items already prepared or readily <br />15 available for submittal to funders, including but not limited to: connectivity to other <br />16 services/infrastructure, such as buses, roads, parking which may not yet be in place; <br />17 supporting partner organizations and documents; documented or anticipated <br />18 benefits to the community; walkability <br />19 - Describing a schedule of tasks to be accomplished prior to initiation of service for <br />20 this train station <br />21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Task Force is directed to report on the recommended <br />22 site selection at the joint meeting of the Hillsborough Town Board of Commissioners and Board <br />23 of Orange County Commissioners in February 2009 and the Task Force shall complete its work <br />24 no later than May 31, 2009 in the form of a final report document. <br />25 <br />26 This the 28th day of October 2008. <br />27 <br />28 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />29 <br />30 3. Board of Commissioners Meeting Calendar for Year 2009 <br />31 Laura Blackmon said that the staff was trying to move up the budget approval to early <br />32 June. She said that three work sessions in May that are not even related to the budget may be <br />33 burdensome. She suggested scattering the work sessions around. <br />34 The Manager's Recommended Budget presentation is scheduled for May 12tH <br />35 Chair Jacobs suggested moving the work sessions to the latter part of June, assuming <br />36 the budget is adopted in early June. <br />37 Commissioner Foushee suggested thinking about moving meetings up to 7:00 p.m. <br />38 rather than 7:30 p.m. Commissioner Nelson agreed. <br />39 Commissioner Nelson said that there are also inefficiencies in the way that agendas are <br />40 currently laid out. These issues will be discussed at the upcoming Board retreat. <br />41 Commissioner Gordon said that the legislative breakfast is late and is in April this year. <br />42 She asked that someone check on this. <br />43 Commissioner Gordon asked about the regular meetings that are on Monday nights. <br />44 She does not want to switch the day of the week around for regular meetings. <br />45 Commissioner Nelson agreed and said that regular meetings should be consistent on <br />46 Tuesday nights. <br />47 The Manager will make some suggestions about moving the work sessions, etc. and it <br />48 will be brought back on a consent agenda. <br />49 <br />50 <br />
