a <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOOK ~ PACE 333 <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />December 10, 1970 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned session <br />at 8:00 o~clock P,M. on Thursday, December 10, 1970, in the District Courtroom <br />of the County Courthouse in Rillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Harvey D, Bennett and Commissioners William C. <br />Ray, Henry 6. Walker, C. Norman Walker and Ira A, Ward. <br />Members Absent: Nane <br />This meetin was called for the <br />g purpose of discussing the private utilization <br />/~~of sewerage faailitiea in the Mebane Snduatrial Park area. <br />Ray Lester, Regional Planner o:P the Research Triangle Regional Planning <br />Commission, made the following suggestions: <br />~,~ That tk~e County recommend to -the Town-oP Mebane that it increase its <br />water and sewerage rates for the residents of the town and customers <br />located-outside the city limits. <br />2. That the Town of Mebane levy a surcharge on customers living outside <br />the city limits. <br />3. That a reasonable portion of the revenues collected, excluding the <br />Industrial Park area, be retained by the Town of Mebane. <br />Mr. Lester stated that if these recommendations were instituted they would <br />prove advantageous to both unite of government, in that, it would provide a <br />significant amount of additional revenue Por the County of Orange and would <br />provide incentive for the Town of Mebane to accept effluent from non-industrial <br />areas as the revenue received would offset the cost of processing and assist <br />in aaaumulation of a capital gain. - <br />Disausaion ensued relative to Mr. Lester~s proposals. ~ ` <br />The Board expressed a willingness to pursue the matter with the Town of <br />Mebane. <br />~~ i <br />There being no Further business to come before the Boaxd.~ the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br />Flarvey b, Bennett, Chairman <br />3.
