Both sub-committees meet monthly, have developed by-laws, and work to fulfill the state
mandated requirements.
Last year, the Leadership Council approved a request to allow the adult and juvenile committees
to function as the official CJPP Board and JCPC Board respectively. By doing so, this would
allow the boards, who actively conduct the mandated requirements, to make funding
recommendations directly to the county commissioners. These boards would continue to advise
the Leadership Council on juvenile and adult offender concerns in the community and have a
representative on the Council. The Leadership Council also agreed to meet on an as needed
basis with a focus on educational topics.
Attachment 1 includes the recommended members to serve on the CJPP Advisory Board and
the JCPC for Orange County. These individuals have been regularly participating on the sub-
committees and have the expertise to fulfill the requirements of the board. (Note: Commissioner
Carey is not included in the appointments since his term as County Commissioner will end on
December 1, 2008.)
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board establish the Orange County
CJPP and JCPC and appoint the list of recommended individuals for the indicated positions and
terms.
