S Athletic Programs and Facilities Director/Parks and Recreation Page 2 o Manages the community's use of department athletic facilities in the County which includes developing policy, procedure and fee recommendations. o Works with the Recreation and Pazks Management Director on providing leadership and guidance to the Town of Carrboro and the Town of Chapel Hill on the development of facility use policy, procedures and fee recommendations. o Serves as liaison for department with independent athletic associations; provides associations with scheduling and athletic facility prepazation management. o Renews annual insurance coverage for athletic programs. o Conducts program training, meetings, ceremonies, certification programs o Develops practice, game, and tournament schedules; reschedules events as needed. o Plans, organizes, and supervises special events; schedules the use of pazk facilities. o Investigates incidents occurring during games; enforces penalties for violations. o Mediates disputes; suspends spectators, coaches, or players as warranted. o Serves on the Boazd of Directors for regional athletic governing bodies. o Performs other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION: o Knowledge of the principles and techniques of recreation administration. o Knowledge of the rules, equipment, and facilities requirements for a variety of sports and games. o Knowledge of relevant laws, county and department policies and procedures, and program objectives. o Knowledge of CPR and first-aid techniques. o Knowledge of community volunteer resources.. o Skill in utilizing athletic tools and equipment. o Skill in management and supervision.
