5 <br />Public Health Education Programs Manager/Health <br />Page 3 <br />o Skill in decision making and problem solving. <br />o Skill in operating standard office equipment such as a computer, calculator, scanner, <br />copier, facsimile machine, and audiovisual equipment. <br />o Skill in public and interpersonal relations. <br />o Skill in oral and written communication. <br />SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Supervisor assigns work in terms of very general instructions. <br />Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion for accuracy and the nature and priority of <br />the final results. <br />GUIDELINES: Guidelines include relevant state laws and regulations; county, department, and <br />division policies and procedures; and program guidelines. These guidelines are generally clear <br />and specific, but may require some interpretation in application. <br />COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied planning and administrative duties. The need to <br />coordinate services with multiple agencies and scarcity of resources contribute to the complexity <br />of the work. <br />SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to promote public health through <br />education and community outreach activities. Successful performance in this position helps to <br />promote and educate citizens on public health issues. <br />PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other county employees, <br />human services agency representatives, school administrators and teachers, child care providers, <br />media representatives, medical providers, civic and community representatives, and the general <br />public. <br />PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give and exchange information, provide <br />services, resolve problems, and motivate or influence persons. <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, or stooping. <br />The employee occasionally lifts light objects. <br />WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office and occasionally <br />outdoors. <br />SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: The position has director <br />supervision over (1) Foreign Language Coordinator and (1) Community Disease Control <br />Specialist <br />
