3 <br />Public Health Education Programs Manager/Health <br />Page 1 <br />JOB TITLE: Public Health Education Program Manager <br />DEPARTMENT: Health, Orange County <br />JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for promoting public health through education <br />and community outreach activities. <br />MAJOR DUTIES: <br />o Develops and manages the internal Immigrant and Refugee Health Program. <br />o Leads the internal Immigrant and Refugee Health Advisory Committee. <br />o Works with the Refugee Health Nurse to establish and periodically refine policies and <br />procedures for refugee patients. <br />o Establish and refine policies and procedures for Interpretation and Translation services. <br />o Recruit, support and contract with qualified interpreters and translators in conjunction with <br />the Foreign Language Coordinator. <br />o Supervises the Community Disease Control Specialist in planning and evaluating Immigrant <br />and Health education and promotion projects in response to community needs. <br />o Research and analyze current demographic data. <br />o Maintain knowledge of changes and issues related to the state Refugee Health Program, state <br />Immigrant Health resources, and local Immigration issues. <br />o Develop and maintain a system for evaluating the cultural and linguistic accessibility of the <br />department by the community. (i.e. language line; customer service; procedures for <br />interactions with non-English speaking patients and clients) <br />o Recommends changes or improvements in departmental work processes to accommodate <br />non-English speaking patrons improving accessibility and cultural sensitivity and minimizing <br />organizational bias. <br />o Assist in the coordination of Immigrant and Refugee Health issues with the context of <br />OCHD programs (i.e. community assessment, pandemic flu planning) <br />o Prepare and provide appropriate information, resources, and learning opportunities to staff <br />working closely with immigrants and refugees. <br />o Collaborate with Human Resources and OCHD supervisors to create a culturally and <br />linguistically inclusive process of staff recruitment and retention developing a more highly <br />diverse workforce. <br />o Facilitates Orange County Latino Health Coalition <br />
