"~ PAGE 32''2 MINIITES OF THE ORANGE COIINTY <br />B0~'R BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />December 1, 19'70 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in special session <br />at 1x00 o~clock P.M, on Tuesday, December 1, 1970, in the office of Chairman <br />Carl Smith in Chapsl Hill, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Commissioners Henry S. Walker, William C. Ray and Ira <br />A, Ward. <br />Members Absent: Chairman Carl M. Smith. <br />The Following persona were present: Quentin Patterson, Fslmer Graham and <br />Woodrow Hoskins, representatives oP the Soil Conservation Service, Mark Burnham <br />Prom the Research Triangle Regional Planning Commission, and John Pridgen from <br />the firm of Pridgen and Freeman. <br />-_--`~ Commissioner Henry Walker assumed the Chairmanship of the meeting as Vice <br />Chairman of the Board. <br />This meeting eras held for the purpose of receiving a report Prom the representatives <br />of the Soil Conaervation.Service relative to the proposed Seven Mile Creek <br />reservoir. <br />Mr. Hoskins, Soil Conservation Geologist, stated that funds were not available <br />for the Soil Conservation Service to explore alternate s?etea for the location oP <br />a dam on the Seven Mile Creek project, however the original aite,which had been <br />selected as the location for the dam, was sat~,afactorp, It was suggested that the <br />County and the Soil Conservation Department proceed to develop s project measures <br />work plan and that from this plan an Architectural and Engineering contreat could <br />then be drawn. Discussion ensued. The Board decided they would visit the site <br />of the proposed dam. It was agreed that any cation on the proposed reservoir <br />would be deferred until a later date. - <br />There being no further business to come before the Board the meeting was <br />adjourned. <br />Henry S.
