Required Hydrologic Characterization <br />Citing from your own Landfill Siting Report: <br />Landfill permitting regulations are structured <br />such that, before receiving site approval, <br />and before proceeding to the design phase, <br />an applicant must demonstrate the following: <br />• that groundwater flow rate and pathways <br />at the site are understood, predictable <br />and characterized, <br />• that locations of, and pathways to groundwate <br />supply wells in the vicinity are likewise <br />characterized, <br />• that the landfill is not located such <br />that potentially short and direct pathways <br />from waste to supply wells will occur; <br />and that a network of monitoring wells <br />will be able to detect the release of <br />landfill constituents before any exceedence <br />of the Drinking Water Standards occurs <br />at the points of compliance. <br />4 <br />
