fl <br />South Carolina <br />• The disposal of trees, stumps, wood chips, and yard waste is permitted as long as the <br />waste is generated on property under the same ownership, as it is disposed. <br />Tennessee <br />• Disposal of C&D is permitted without obtaining a permit from the Department of <br />Environment and Conservation, at facilities which are located on the site of generation <br />and which will have a fill area of less that one acre in areal extent when completed. Also, <br />solely natural rock and dirt, pavement, and/or concrete or brick rubble may be used as fill <br />material. <br />Utah <br />* C&D waste can be buried on -site, as long as there is no environmental threat, or public <br />nuisance. <br />Vermont <br />• Developers must obtain an Insignificant Waste Disposal Event Permit from the <br />Department of Environmental Conservation. This permit allows for a one -time disposal <br />of limited materials (untreated wood, stumps, brush, clean non - recycled glass, clean <br />pavement (bituminous concrete), bricks, masonry and mortar; and other inert materials <br />that may be approved by the Agency). <br />A further limitation is that these materials be buried on the site on which they are <br />generated. Prohibited areas include, but are not limited to the Green Mountain National <br />Forest, regulated wetlands, National Wildlife Refuge, etc. <br />The following minimum siting criteria apply to the disposal of inert wastes in <br />non - prohibited areas <br />(1) Minimum distance from the edge of the disposal area to the adjoining property <br />lines: 50 feet; <br />(2) Minimum distance from the edge of the disposal area to a perennial stream or <br />other surface waters: 100 feet; <br />(3) Minimum distance to seasonal high ground water: 3 feet; <br />(4) Minimum distance to bedrock: 10 feet; <br />(5) Minimum distance to surface waters or drinking water supplies: 100 feet; <br />(6) Maximum slope for disposal areas: 1:3 (33 ' /Z %) <br />Virginia <br />•Yes, subject to local ordinances. If not prohibited by local ordinance, limited quantities <br />of inert wastes may be buried on the site of generation. Open dumps are strictly <br />prohibited. <br />
