Our City Council was briefed on the
plan, but we took no official action and I am writing this on my own
behalf, not as a representative of, or at the direction of, Council.
I understand that you have a difficult challenge in siting a landfill to serve
your citizens. You are fortunate that your current landfill site gives you an
expansion option for a few years and I hope that you act to use that
C
IT expansion, as opposed to developing a satellite facility.
L
O
E The tract on the Durham County /Orange County line has been discussed as
M particularly problematic because of its proximity to our water supply.
L Having made decisions with regional impact, I can understand that you do
3 not need me to tell you which decision to make.
ra
I will rely completely on your judgment, so long as your decision is made
= as if the reservoir in question were Cane Creek, or University Lake. If you
would put a C & D Landfill in your own watershed, then you could decide
to put one in ours.
ca I don't think you would and I hope that you won't.
n Sincerel ,
n
n
1
u Nicholas J.
