George and Isabel <br />Fowler Fund: Robert and Christine Maehemer Fund; and Oualex Fund <br />Methodist Home for hildren $10,000 <br />To assist young male adolescents who are abusing drugs in understanding the <br />causes behind their substance abuse, expand their vocational potential, and improve <br />their family relations ley establishing a group home in Durham, which will provide <br />direct treatment as well as additional counseling in collaboration with the Durham <br />Center and Duke University. American Airlines Kids Are Something Special Fund <br />and Phoenix Fund <br />New Bethel Baptist Church $10,000 <br />To increase the gradpation rate and the academic performance of youth, <br />grades K -12, living ih the Crest Street Community in Durham by expanding <br />a tutorial and mentoring program in math and reading.
