TT also hosts a website for Share the <br />13 Ride NC, a statewide ride share matching service for both local and <br />14 inter-county trips. <br />15 <br />16 Orange County has an active bicycling community that uses Orange <br />17 county roads for recreational riding, competitive training, and <br />1 a commuting. Orange County's Bicycle Transportation Plan identifies <br />19 major routes for improvements to facilitate bicycle commutes The <br />20 Bicycle Transportation Plan is included in the regional DCHC Long <br />21 Range Transportation Plan. Although there are currently no bicycle <br />22 Panes on Orange County roads outside municipalities, Orange County <br />23 has been able to obtain modest improvements for bicycles, such as <br />24 two-foot paved shoulders on secondary roads, through NCDOT <br />2s programs for resurfacing roads and spot safety projects A State <br />26 Transportation Improvement Program project that will identify popular <br />27 cyclin_g routes on an Orange County Bike Map is underway, and <br />2s should be completed bV the end of 2008. NCDOT will install numbered <br />29 bike route signs as part of the overall development of the county bike <br />3o route system. <br />31 <br />32 There are no pedestrian trails outside of parks and greenwavs. <br />33 However, several clans outline a connected trail system throughout <br />34 the County through parks and environm_erttallYsensjtive areas along <br />35 floodplains from Chapel Hill Road in Durham. <br />36 <br />37 Amtrak passenger service traverses central_ Orange County through <br />3s the Town of Hillsborough, but currently does not stop in Orange <br />39 County. There is widespread community support for a passenger <br />4o train stop in Orange County.
