soon 7 ~,c~ 298 <br />-,_. <br />The Board of Commissioners advised the Town of Mebane that the County would <br />agree to accept the effluent provided the Town oP Mebane would return to Orange <br />County all sewerage rental fees which were collected sad that the County would <br />also consider providing water services to the residents of the Center Stre.~ <br />area. <br />This portion of the Board of Commissioners meeting was recessed in order ', <br />that they might return to Rillaborough and continue their deliberations of the <br />1970-1971 budget. . <br />Disousaion ensued relative to the proposed budget. -" <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ray, it was moved, that the salaries for the <br />law enforcement officers be increased from fine percent to ten percent. This motion <br />died for lack of a second. <br />The County Administrator recommended that the Board aoasider assuming the <br />ooat of a hospital insurance policy for its employees. Discussion ensued. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Bennett, seconded by Commissioner Ward, it was <br />-~ monad aenl'-adopted, that the County assume the cost of a hospital inaurane® polioy <br />for its employees. <br />Chairman Smith aslled Por s vote. Commissioners William C. Ray, Rarvey D. <br />Bennett, Henry S, Walker and Ira A. Ward voted aye. Chairman Smith reauested that <br />he be recorded ea voting against the motion. Chairman Smith then declared the <br />motion passed. <br />Unon motion oP Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Ray, it was moved <br />that the Capital Outlet' budget be one million dellars and that same b® divided as <br />follows: <br />Orange County School Unit 475,000 <br />Chapel Rill School Unit 525,000 <br />Chairman Smith aslled for a vote. Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, William <br />C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward voted aye. Chairman Smith requested to <br />be recorded as voting against the motion. Chairman Smith then declared the <br />motion passed. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Walker, it was moved <br />and adopted that the School Current Expense appropriation be established at $SD _~ <br />per student and that the tax rate be tentatively established at $1.20 per one <br />hundred dollar valuation. <br />Chairman Smith directed the County Accountant to complete the necessary. budget <br />and tax levy reaplution and to have them ready for adoption at the next regular <br />monthly meeting. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Ray, it was <br />moved and unanimously adopted that gene Wilson of Route 2, Durham, North Carolina, <br />be appointed as a member of the County Planning Board for a term oP five years. <br />There being no further business to some before the Board the meeting was adjourned. <br />Carl M.
