.-. •.+~. <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: September 29, 1999 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No._ <br />SUBJECT: Letter in support of New Hope Advisory Committee <br />DEPARTMENT: PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/1~ No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />2 Letters from Robert Healy, Chair Alice Gordon, Chair Board of County <br />New Hope Creek Corridor Advisory Committee Commissioners <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181. <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To approve a letter of support for the resolutions of the New Hope Creek Advisory <br />Committee with regard to the new Hope Creek Corridor Project <br />BACKGROUND: As the attached letters include, the above referenced committee approved resolutions <br />that focused on the following: <br />1. That the proposed road for the area does not and should not go anywhere near Laurel <br />Hill, and the proposed road should not be named Laurel Hill. <br />2. That DOT pay strong attention to the five Items enumerated in the attached letter. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: No direct fiscal impact on the County budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the attached letter of <br />support for the Chair's signature, with the specific following additions to the recommendations of the <br />Advisory Committee: <br />1. That a suggestion be forwarded to name the proposed road Southwest Durham Drive; <br />instead of Laurel Hill Drive. <br />2. That DOT pursue all efforts to preserving the Hollow Rock Store building for later use. <br />
