Summers, Health Director <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: - - ezt. 2411 <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />PURPOSE: To consider the nominations for County-Appointed Animal Cruelty Investigators <br />BACKGROUND: Since September, 1994, the Board of Commissioners has each yeaz appointed <br />or reappointed (an) employee(s) of the Animal Protection Society to act asCounty-Appointed <br />Animal Cruelty Investigator(s) under Chapter 19A, a law which provides a civil remedy for cruelty <br />to animals. The Board of Health has reviewed these nominations and recommended forwazding <br />them to the Boazd of Commissioners for appointment. <br />The two nominees aze employees of the Animal Protection Society and have received special <br />training in this area. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The investigators act as volunteers, at no salary cost to the county. <br />RECOMMENDATON(S): The Manager recommends that the Boazd of Commissioners appoint <br />Dean Edwazds and Jon Gilmore asCounty-Appointed Animal Cruelty Investigators for 1999-2000. <br />
