This operator would be used from the hours of 8 o'clock A.M, to <br />5 o'clock P.M. He stated that the employment of these three individals <br />would amount to 518,600; however, a portion of the salary might be funded through <br />a Federal grant. However, this grant would be on a declining basis over a period <br />of years. <br />The Sheriff advised the Board that he had been forced to discontinue the <br />third shift on the three days of District Court and the hours required were so <br />excessive that he did not have personnel enough to operate a third shift. However, <br />the schedule on the weekends did include a 24-hour coverage. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Wednesday, June 17, 1970, at 8 o'clock P.M. with the <br />members of the ABC Board and the members of the Orange--Person Mental Health Board. <br />Carl M. Gatos, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />The Board of Commissioners of Orange County met in adjourned session at <br />the Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, in the Commissioners Roam at <br />8 o'clock P.M. on Wednesday, June 17, 1970. <br />Members Present: Chairman Carl M. Smith and Commissioners Harvey D. Bennett, <br />Ira A. Ward, Henry S. Walker and William C. Ray. <br />Members Absent: None <br />Also present For the meeting were Ur. John Ewing, Dr. Liam Daily, Representatives <br />of the Mental Health Program and H. W. Moore, Bernice Ward and J. Temple Gobbel, <br />members of the ABC Bvard. <br />This meeting was held jointly with the members of the Orange-Person Mental <br />~_-. Health Authority and members of the ABC Board. The purpose of the meeting was <br />to discuss the possibility of additional funds being placed in the Mental Health .. <br />Program for the purpose of a specific program being instituted far alcoholics <br />and their families. <br />- Dr. Ewing stated that if the programs of the ABC Board and the Mental Health i <br />Authority were combined, then Federal funds could be secured to assist in the <br />rehabilitation program for alcoholics. It was stated that currently the ABC <br />Board was spending $4,500..00 annually on a rehabilitation project and that if this ', <br />amount was doubled then State and Federal funds, possiblly in the amount of 530, ` :. <br />000.00, could be obtained. i <br />Chairman Smith advised Dr. Ewing that the Board would take his request under <br />consideration. Then Chairman Smith requested the members of the ABC Board to ~ <br />I <br />give consideration to the proposal submitted by Dr. Ewing. Chairman Smith requested <br />the ABC Board to advise the Board of Commissioners of any action they take relative ~ <br />to this matter. <br />Th= County Accountant filed-with the Board a copy of the 1970-71 Budget Estimates. ~ . <br />Chairman Smith directed the County Accountant to file a copy of the Budget Estimates ~ <br />with the Clerk to the Board. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was ' <br />adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, ,Tune 23, 1970, in the Commissioners Room <br />of the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />i <br />Carl M.
